After years of fashion brands knocking on Bruno Mars’ door to collaborate with them, Lacoste is the one that finally made it.
The singer was actually a huge fan of the crocodile brand growing up:
“[…] if you had that crocodile on your chest, that meant something.”
The popstar adopted an alter ego to work on the collection, which debuted on March 5th, to help him think like a real fashion designer: Ricky Regal. The collection features shoes and accessories with an eye to the Seventies and a modern touch, without neglecting a sporty feel, typical of Lacoste, such as striped tracksuits and exaggerated collars. But also classic t-shirts and polo shirts with the iconic crocodile logo.
Mars found that the designing process was almost no different from writing music:
“When I’m writing a song, it’s about the emotion: what do I want people to feel? […] I approach clothing that same way: How do I want to feel when I put on that jacket?”
