Digital trends: YouTube is the second most-visited website worldwide

In 2019 there are 4,39 billion of Internet users, with a 366 million increase, compared to January 2018. (+ 9%).

According to the latest report of Hootsuite and We Are Social, the internet acquires more than one million new users every day compared to the previous year.

3,26 billion people on the total used social media on mobile devices in January 2019, with a growth of 297 million new users that is an increase of over 10% in a year.

The figures also highlight a constant growth in the use of mobile devices to browse the web. An impressive datum is related to the time spent on the internet by each user: about 6 ½ hours a day, half of which using a smartphone.

3,48 billion social media users in 2019 can be counted, with a worldwide total growing by 288 million compared to this time last year (+9%).

The average user spends about 2 hours and 16 minutes per day on social media, and the average age is growing too: 30-year-olds represent the large part of social media users worldwide.

That’s not enough to be actually “social”. According to GlobalWebIndex data, 98% of users have used one social media platform in the last month but only 83% had an active role in those platforms.

The most-visited websites worldwide

SimilarWeb statistics updated to 2019 show that YouTube is the second most-visited website worldwide after Google. In the third position, there’s Facebook, followed by Baidu and Wikipedia. In general, social media have a large space in the list of the most-clicked websites by global users.

A curiosity: Twitter keeps going well in the classification, even if its base of subscribers has been constantly decreasing in the last few years. A platform that is growing, on the contrary, is Linkedin. According to the data provided by the most appreciated professional social network worldwide, advertisers can now reach over 600 million users worldwide on LinkedIn.
